Cool Stress Test - The premium vigor test for your seed

BioVision Seed Labs conducts cool stress testing on most seed crops grown in Canada. By introducing cool chamber temperature, the seedlings will respond based on numerous factors either genetic or induced by in-crop growing conditions. The crop species tested will determine the growing media, growth chamber temperatures and photoperiod.

BioVision Seed Labs: Fusarium graminearum in wheat and barley

Fusarium graminearum testing of wheat and barley seed is a critical step in best management practices, and is required under the Alberta Pest Control Act prior to the sale/sowing of seed. This pathogen is closely monitored by the grain, malt and livestock industries, as it produces vomitoxin (DON) in cereal grains. Two detection methods are available at BioVision: Plated and DNA.

Seed health analysis harnesses various seed testing methods to stress the seedlings, evaluate seed coat integrity or analyze embryo activity. Vigor testing, often referred to as cool stress testing, is the most common request, after germination, for testing seed.
